 O2MMS - 24 Hour Donationware

It’s been roughly 24 hours since donations became required in order to continue to enjoy the full functionality of my O2 MMS application… and remarkably of the 300 unique users who have used the service in the last 24 hours, 31 of them have donated something (either by PayPal or Reverse Billed SMS) - a 10% conversion rate of users from a free service to an essentially paid-for service.

I am quite impressed with this, and by the generosity of one or two users in particular - it is very much appreciated and somewhat restores faith in the old concept of Shareware software.

 O2MMS Now donation-ware

mmsinboxThe number of users of this application has grown exponentially recently and there are now around 3000 users, unfortunately with increased growth comes increase cost.

O2MMS will, therefore, be moving to a donation supported model;

Donations can be made by PayPal (preferred) at http://www.iapps.co.uk/ or alternatively you can register by SMS

Unfortunately this is unavoidable, and even if I only keep 5% of my user base it would net me enough to make it worthwhile losing the remaining 95%

I hope you will agree that this is a useful service, and that many hours of development time have gone into it… a donation of a few quid would be much appreciated and would secure the availablity of the service in the future.
