 Apple Store Glasgow

Apple Store GlasgowWell finally it’s emerged that Glasgow is getting it’s very own Apple Store! (and some of you will remember me claiming ages ago it would be on Buchanan Street adjacent to the underground… Well I was right, just had the wrong address :P)

The store will probably be at 147 Buchanan Street and will open in June 2007 :)

Sadly this means The Pier will be closing, which is mildly disappointing as I always liked that shop!

 Not so universal

Not so universal

Guess the restore discs that come with intel macs aren’t universal… PowerBooks certainly don’t like them!

JustMac’s Incredible New Website …. Or not.

This article has been amended for legal reasons.

JustMac Web Site
Well it is incredible…. by that i mean in- (prefix: meaning not) credible, at all.

It would seem that JustMac (or at least it’s domain name) has been bought… And they are continuing to use my copyrighted artwork illegally (since the temporary license to use it pending payment for the work done was extended to Mike and is non-transferrable as multiple people should, and do, remember)

The attached image is a screenshot of their wonderful new work-in-progress… Now I know the JustMac site I built was far from perfect… it was a fair bit better than this one (which is being built by a considerably more valuable company!)

I’m also at a loss as to why anyone had any interest in a company that’s consistently made hardly any profit, is over £13,000 in debt, and didn’t pay it’s staff… I’m at even more of a loss as to why they’ve retained Martin as the sole director… unless they’re planning to just use it’s name, premises and dissolve the company (hopefully losing the debt along the way)

Still would say there are two safe bets in Glasgow for buying Apple equipment … The new Scotsys Premium Apple Reseller Store on Great Western Road, or John Lewis…

If you really need it the £30 or so cheaper, try Apple’s Refurb Store :), usually the previous generation machines but you save nearer 30%

 Economy(?) Plus

Completely pointless post (like most here) but I’m currently sitting in the Business Lounge at Birmingham International Airport enjoying all it has to offer; Free Food, Free Drinks, WiFi and comfy seats all thanks to British European (or flybe as they seem to want to be called these days)’s Economy Plus…

Economy Plus is the only option other than economy… They just don’t want to call it “Business Class” because people associate it with “expensive” or worse, “overpriced”.

All in all it’s pretty nice… you get to pre-book your seats on the plane, check in online (although even Economy passengers can manage that), get to use the lounges, and get free food and drinks on board… Not bad for economy ;)

Although it is currently 7.10pm and my flight was due to depart at 6.45 :’(

Did you pack your bags yourself?

Can’t believe how simple online check-in can be made. They even let me print my own boarding pass. Not ticket, boarding pass. The piece of paper you hand over at the gate! Now i did consider printing it on a thermal printer DESIGNED for boarding passes…

Week in Brief (Phones,More Phones and IKEA)

  • October 15th, 2006
  • 2:56 am

Sorry for the complete lack of updates lately, but this has been a hectic / stressful week (delete as appropriate)

At work on Monday our internet connection died due to someone from BT being so kind as to pull our (perfectly happy up until that point) ADSL line out of it’s krone block…. After 2 hours dealing with the numpties at Bulldog this was fixed some 26 hours later on Tuesday afternoon (we are currently seeking a new ISP)

Wednesday most of my time was spent dealing with other phone-related issues (including finding numbers and working out what’s wrong with our internal phones and mobile contracts)

I also ended up fixing phones at the shop I don’t even work in!

My own phone isn’t working properly either, right now I just dont want to see / deal with telephones.

Today was spent in IKEA and I’ve left with loads of bedroom furniture… which is still sitting in boxes all over the bedroom floor….

I want to sleep :(
