A lot of you have known about this for a while but it’s officially public now, the shop is moving. More information can be found on the very minimalist, and nicely done in css if i do say so myself, microsite at http://www.justmac.co.uk/moving/

Phone Mast Phobia

Shamelessly stolen from bloomfield.me.uk but i thought it was worth repeating here.
Campaigners against the installation of new mobile phone transmitters on a church here in Edinburgh seem to be getting hot under the collar about p*rn. They claim that that Vodafone transmitters, due for installation on the tower of Pilrig St Paul’s Church about half way down Leith Walk, will be used to transmit adult material to users of 3G mobile phones.
And while it’s true that Vodafone do offer some adult material on their network (albeit only to those people who have specifically asked for an adult-content bar to be removed), it’s a bit of a leap of logic to oppose all mobile transmitters based on that argument. It would be a bit like saying that all newsagents should be banned, because they might sell top-shelf girlie mags to people. Or that the Royal Mail should be shut down, because folk could order dodgy videos by mail-order.
The second argument they put forward is that the transmitters are also apparently unsafe. Here’s the quote from a worried parent:
There is emerging evidence that masts are harmful, particularly to children.
Emerging evidence, eh? Where from exactly? There’s no source given to support this claim in the news article, and therefore it could be nothing more than heresay. Indeed, all the research I’ve ever heard about with regards to safety of mobile masts and phones has been, at worse, inconclusive. The World Health Organisation says that fears about base stations are unfounded, and so does the UK Health Protection Agency.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Computer Warehouse, one of the UK’s largest Apple Resellers, recently changed their company image completely in their print ads in MacWorld magazine….
We couldn’t help but notice more than a passing resemblence to the website I built for Glasgow’s local dedicated Apple Reseller, JustMac back in October last year…
So, this is 2.3antons….?

Having realised we have no measurements of the front of a building I’m currently looking at, we decide to use Anton as an approximate guide to guesstimate the measurements from a photo, since we know the dimensions of Anton, we can use his height to calculate the approximate sizes of everything else..
So, join the campaign to add 1anton to the SI units, now… to convert this to something useful like centimetres, sorry millimetres.
Password Expired…. now, to pick a new one.

Hmm…. I’ve heard of secure passwords but this is excessive… I need to find a password which;
- Is more than 8 characters (not a problem)
- Contains at least 1 number (not a problem)
- Contains at least 1 character (not a problem)
- Doesn’t contain three consecutive identical characters (again, not a problem)
- Not have been used in the past year. (this one is annoying)
- Not the same as my login. (Doh!)

Just to let you all know that, due to the inordinantly large amount of spam I recieve, as of the end of february (28th this year I think), me@iross.net will no longer be a valid eMail address. I have a large number of addresses you can use and if you can’t think of another one try my MSN or AIM addresses, failing that eMail me and I’ll send you another one!
To those of you that don’t eMail me using me@iross.net, ignore this.
